How Does Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation Work?
While breast implants and breast uplifts are popular ways to address the issue, not everybody wants serious surgery requiring general anaesthetic, nor are synthetic implants the best way forward for everyone.
Stubborn areas of fat around the body can be difficult to get rid of through exercise and diet alone and, for some, a form of body contouring treatment can be the only way to achieve an end goal.
Breast enlargement with fat transfer involves removing pockets of fat from other areas of your body (such as the legs or abdomen) and transferring fat into the breast area to increase volume and shape in a subtle, natural-looking way.
This exciting new technique takes fat from one area and uses it to enlarge, improve or even uplift your breasts.
There are some great advantages to fat transfer breast enlargement; it is entirely natural, so there is no foreign material within the body, you don’t need a general anaesthetic, and treatment will result in a very natural look and feel to the enlarged breast.
You also receive gentle liposuction where the excess fat is removed from, so that area is improved too.
36-year-old Sarah Addington from Cheshire, who had breast augmentation in Glasgow earlier this year said; ‘‘I never knew this treatment existed before I done a little research, but I’m glad I stumbled across it.’’
‘‘I was low on confidence and my partner was a little worried, but I didn’t want to tell him it was because it was unhappy with my breasts.’’
‘‘Eventually I plucked up the courage and went to see a consultant. I couldn’t be happier.’’
This procedure can be carried out under local anaesthetic (or general anaesthetic if you prefer) and takes a little over an hour to complete.
Unlike other artificial fillers, fat is entirely natural with nothing added and is your own tissue. Of the fat injected around two thirds survives, so a further top up may be required.
Once you are happy with your new breast size and shape it is highly unlikely that you would need future operations unless you change weight drastically as the fat injected into the breasts will remain in situ, unlike with breast implant surgery, where future surgery is eventually necessary for most people.
Are You Suitable for Breast Fat Transfer?
Fat transfer is suitable for those wanting to shape their figure while achieving subtle enhancement to the breasts.
Fat transfer is not recommended if you:
- Want a significant increase in breast size
- Don’t have enough fat to transfer
- Require an uplift
- Are considering having children within the next year
