Say Goodbye to the Early Signs of Facial Ageing

Pioneered by the American plastic surgeon Dr. Sydney Coleman and honed by the consultant plastic surgeons at Elanic Glasgow, the facial fat transfer technique involves removing fat from one part of the body through gentle liposuction, before purifying it and injecting it into another.

Fat-enhanced augmentation can be used to increase the volume in the breasts or cheeks, and at Elanic we frequently use it to address some of the earlier signs of mild to moderate facial ageing. To learn more about how facial fat transfer can help you enjoy the results you’ve been looking for, simply reach out to our Glasgow call centre and set up your consultation at the Elanic location nearest you.

What Can Facial Fat Transfer Do for Me?

Our patients love the facial fat transfer technique due to its high level of versatility. While fat transfer is great for addressing a number of common issues that are related to the early onset of facial ageing, the technique is also loved for its “two-in-one” nature. In addition to facial rejuvenation, you’ll also enjoy a liposuction treatment in the donor area, resulting in a slimmed and toned look. Facial fat transfer can help you with:

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Sagging
  • Lost volume
  • “Crepey” appearance
  • Hollows under eyes
  • Sunken cheeks

How Does Facial Fat Transfer Work?

Quick and Easy

In most cases, facial fat transfer can be performed quite easily, right in our office, and using only a local anaesthetic with the addition of light sedation. You’ll be awake, but kept very comfortable throughout the procedure, and won’t have an extensive recovery time when it’s over.

Donor Site Lipo

Small incisions will be made to the donor site, which is usually an area that has plenty of extra fat to spare, like the tummy, abdomen, thighs, or buttocks. Liposuction will be used to remove an adequate amount of fat from the donor area, which will then be purified and prepared.

Careful Injections

Once the fat from the donor site has been adequately prepared, your surgeon will inject it into the treatment area, following a precise pattern that you worked together to create. Your surgeon may use an extra amount, to account for the fat cells that your body will naturally absorb.

Your Recovery Process

You’ll experience a bit of swelling and bruising after your facial fat transfer procedure, but this will be the extent of your downtime. The majority of your swelling and bruising will begin to significantly fade after about four or five days, with the full swelling having disappeared after about two to three weeks.

You’ll continue to notice your results evolving over the course of the next month or two, though the majority of our patients only need to take three or four days away from work and social activities. When you’re ready to learn more about facial fat transfer, simply reach out and set up your consultation!
