Resolving Your Mole Issues

At Elanic, we have a "one-stop-shop" for moles, enabling us to treat a wide range of issues with a high level of efficacy. You’ll be seen by a highly experienced surgeon, who will thoroughly discuss your options for mole removal with you. In many cases, suspicious moles can only be removed surgically, as a specimen must be sent to pathology for analysis. Before you seek treatment for any mole it must be seen by one of our Consultant Plastic Surgeons to determine that it is benign and treatment can be carried out.

If you’re interested in learning more about how mole removal can help you enjoy a boost to your self-confidence, our team is here to help. Simply reach out to us at our Glasgow call centre and set up a consultation at the Elanic location most convenient for you.

When to Consider Mole Removal

Mole removal varies from patient to patient but is a procedure that is relatively minimally invasive in nature and doesn’t come with any kind of extended downtime or recovery period. You’ll be able to rejoin your daily routine the same day as your procedure, and we’ll help you manage your discomfort. We recommend coming in for an exam if you meet any of the following criteria:

  • A family history of skin cancer is often a good reason for removing a mole as early as possible.
  • Moles that are overly large or unusual in shape are often removed to reduce the risk for cancer.
  • If a mole is unsightly or easily visible, patients may have it removed for cosmetic reasons, and to enjoy a boosted sense of self-confidence.

Our Mole Removal Techniques

There are different ways to remove a benign mole but we only suggest the following because the results are clinically more effective.

CO2 Laser Ablation

This technique effectively vapourises the mole and tends to leave the best possible scar. In fact, in many cases, the scar is almost indiscernible after treatment. This treatment is highly specialised and you should always make sure you have been examined by a Consultant Plastic Surgeon before going ahead as melanoma should never be treated this way.

Surgical Removal

In some cases, the size or the location of the mole means that it is better removed surgically. Ideally, a Consultant Plastic Surgeon is the best qualified and more experienced practitioner to make this decision. At your appointment with Elanic, your surgeon will discuss the options with you, and surgery can be carried out on a day case basis at our state-of-the-art, on-site theatre.
