At Elanic we have created an integrated system to assess and treat leg veins from the smallest thread veins to larger varicose veins. Existing clinics can treat either varicose veins or smaller leg thread veins but at Elanic we are able to target the whole spectrum of unsightly leg veins. Smaller vessels may be suitable for laser treatment with intermediately sized veins more suitable for injection treatment. Larger varicose veins are now also suitable for less invasive removal and can be treated without the need for painful disfiguring surgery which requires a long recovery time.
Varicose veins are large tortuous veins which appear on the legs superficially located just beneath the skin. They are the result of valves within the deeper veins in your legs not working properly and therefore blood pools in the more superficial veins, rather than returning to the heart. It is more than just a cosmetic problem and can be painful and itchy and left untreated it can cause the skin on the legs to become thin and prone to injury.
At Elanic we offer several treatments for varicose veins including VNUS Closure, Clarivein and ultrasound guided sclerotherapy. The choice of which treatment is best for your varicose veins will be decided at your consultation and depends upon the size of the vessels, their location and their number. You will be seen by a Consultant Vascular Surgeon who carries out the procedure and, in most cases, they will use an ultrasound to determine the type of varicose veins you have.
