At Elanic the Tracheal Shave procedure can be carried out as part of wider facial feminisation plans or as a stand-alone treatment, completely dependent on the requirements of our patients.
As part of our transgender patient's journey, the tracheal shave is one of the simplest operations in our facial feminisation treatments. The goal of this treatment is to give the neck a more 'feminine' appearance by removing the prominence of the Adams apple via the removal of cartilage in front of the larynx.
All people regardless of gender have a small amount of cartilage in the throat to protect the vocal cords. During puberty, hormones cause this to grow and sometimes form a bump in those assigned male at birth (AMAB).
Tracheal shave at Elanic can be done as a single treatment or often it is carried out at the same time as other procedures in our facial feminisation treatment packages. Our Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon Moorthy Halsnad is extremely experienced in carrying out facial feminisation surgery and will advise of his technique based on your individual requirement at your consultation.
If you would like a price or to book in for a free consultation please call the clinic on 0141 332 5106 or fill in the online contact form and one of our patient coordinators will get back to you.
