Dermatology and Dermatologist Treatment In Glasgow

In many areas dermatology and aesthetics overlap but in many cases specific problems will only be treated by a qualified consultant dermatologist and that is why we offer this service at Elanic. Our consultant dermatologists offer a wide range of specialist services:

Lumps & bumps

Lumps and bumps is a general term that covers a range of small and normally innocuous defects on or under our skin. Not all lumps require removal or treatment, but you should consider an assessment if they are changing or perhaps they are unsightly and causing embarrassment.

How are these Lumps & Bumps Treated?

Cryotherapy is a treatment which may avoid the need for surgery. The area to be treated is touched or sprayed with liquid nitrogen which produces a controlled cold injury.

Excision (surgical removal) is the other option where the consultant will inject some local anaesthetic into the area before surgically removing the offending tissue.

Laser is an established and proven treatment for many benign lesions. At Elanic we have some of the most advanced lasers available, able to remove many benign lesions with little or no scarring.

Inflammatory conditions

Acne

Acne is a disease that involves the oil glands of the skin. It can vary considerably in severity from just a few ‘pimples’ through to extensive pustules and painful nodules. It is most common in adolescence but can also affect adults. It causes embarrassment and, if not treated early, can result in widespread scarring.

At Elanic we have a variety of treatments for acne involving skin creams, lasers and medication. A combined approach can often give the best results.

Rosacea

Rosacea is a skin condition that affects the central parts of the face. Symptoms can include facial flushing, facial redness, spots and thickening of the skin.

Some antibiotic creams and tablets may improve the spots but often leave the redness of the skin. At Elanic we have treatments specially developed to reduce facial redness, using a combination of radiofrequency and intense pulsed light treatments and skin creams.

Contact dermatitis & allergies

Allergies and dermatitis often result in itchy, painful and unsightly rashes. Often there is a trigger for the condition and identifying this is the first step to clearing the problem. In our clinic, we offer patch testing and RAST blood testing. Suitable patients for this are those with long standing issues with eczema and people who have work-related skin allergy problems. We can also investigate suspected latex allergy.
