Microdermabrasion What you need to know

Tired of dull, dry, damaged skin? It’s summer, everybody would love a youthful, sunkissed glow but sometimes those pesky skin cells render our skin very tired looking. This is due to a buildup of dead and/or damaged skins cells on the skin’s surface – usually this is caused by overexposure to sunlight. Too much contact with the sun can be detrimental to your skin’s condition leaving it aged with imperfections.

This is where Microdermabrasion come into play. Microdermabrasion is a treatment offered by Elanic to help in reducing your dermalogica issues and in some cases even solve them. These results can be apparent from as early as one session.

What is Microdermabrasion and What are the Benefits?

This treatment is perfectly safe and a very popular way of treating a wide variety of skin conditions. This treatment is designed to improve the look, feel and condition of your skin as well as improve the appearance of certain imperfections such as:

  1. Improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

  2. Promotes the growth of new skin cells.

  3. Reduces the appearance of acne scarring.

  4. Reduces the visibility of any sun damage.

How does it work?

The layer of skin at the surface with the most exposure and that is subject to imperfection such as fine lines, wrinkles and blemishes is know as the ‘stratum corneum’. Microdermabrasion is the application of tiny rough grains to buff away this layer of skin. By vacuuming a jet of micro crystals across the top layer of skin with a hand piece the dead skin cells are removed resulting in the skin looking more radiant. Minor scars, wrinkles and lines which are on this top layer can be improved via multiple treatments. This treatment is only designed to improve the first layer of skin, attempting to treat lower layers of skin could be painful and potentially cause harm.

How long before you will see results?

Noticeable improvements in the texture and appearance of the skin can be seen after the first treatment; however we do recommend a course of three to six treatments to achieve optimal results. Medical microdermabrasion sessions usually last between 15 minutes to an hour and require no downtime, only mild redness, allowing you to return to normal activities immediately after the procedure.

Who is Microdermabrasion suitable for?

Many different people are able to have Microdermabrasion treatments. This treatment is suitable for a number of reasons such as for those who just wish to refresh their skin to help them regain radiance underneath the skin cells preventing this currently. Or for more in depth results such as the removal of minor scarring. This particular treatment is suitable for the face, hand and body.
