Believe it or not, non-surgical liposuction is a reality rather than a fantasy – you can achieve the body contour you desire without having to go under the knife! Some revolutionary clinics now offer treatments such as i-LipoXcell by Chromogenex, which break down excess body fat without the need for surgical intervention.
How it works
The first stage of non-surgical liposuction treatment usually involves low level diode lasers, which are contained within pads placed upon your skin. These will remain in place for around 20 minutes in each area in which you want to achieve fat reduction. These lasers can interfere with the cell membranes of fat cells, encouraging them to release their fat stores without damage to the cells themselves. The fat will collect in the intracellular spaces, where it will be more easily metabolised when you next exercise.
The second stage involves a combination of more lasers, vacuum massage and multipolar radiofrequency, which heats and then tightens the skin. The second stage of the therapy will smooth your skin and reduce cellulite.
How effective is non-surgical liposuction?
You will see inches of fat loss after just one treatment and you can use this as a one-off therapy if you prefer; however, a course of several treatments in combination with a diet and exercise regimen will result in dramatic fat loss. The i-LipoXcell treatment helps your body to burn fat by encouraging fat in cells to break down into its liquid components. The body can metabolise these more quickly and effectively if your therapy session is followed by a session in the gym, as exercise promotes lymph flow provided you stay well hydrated.
You will be able to see how much difference even one session makes, as you will be measured before and after the treatment to demonstrate its efficacy.
How does it compare to surgical liposuction?
Surgical and non-surgical liposuction procedures yield different benefits to different parts of the body. Add to this the fact that different patients have different needs and will respond to therapies differently and you will understand that it is very difficult to compare the two; however, if you find a clinic that can offer both options, your consultant will help you to determine which therapy is appropriate for you or whether you will benefit most from a combination of the two techniques.
What are the benefits of non-surgical liposuction?
In general, non-surgical liposuction may appeal more to some patients because it is less invasive. It requires no needles or incisions, unlike traditional liposuction procedures.
Fat loss is more gentle and less dramatic with non-surgical techniques, yet it is lower risk and lower cost than its surgical equivalent. Another advantage is that healing time is not required – you can be up and about and resume your usual activities straight after your visit to the clinic.
You may also find that the tissue tightening effects of the therapy improve the appearance of your skin post-therapy compared with traditional liposuction. Cellulite will be much reduced after the application of lasers, radiofrequency and massage.
