Botox and Dermal Fillers

How does Botox work?

The lines and wrinkles which appear on the face are a sign of ageing and occur because of the connections of the facial muscles to the skin. By using Botox it is possible to paralyse parts of these muscles so that the lines are reduced or disappear.

The technically difficult part to the procedure is knowing where to inject so that lines are removed, but facial expression is still possible (avoiding the "deadpan" look). Our Lead Consultant Plastic Surgeon, Vivek has spent years learning and understanding the anatomy of the face and therefore can inject Botox whilst maximising safety and minimising unwanted effects.

What are Facial Fillers?

Fillers are materials which are injected into the skin to "plump up" the skin and reduce established wrinkles, or to give more voluptuous lips.

Fillers can be temporary or permanent. Over many years there have been problems with man-made permanent fillers becoming lumpy or patients no longer liking their plumped lips. Vivek believes that it is safest to use temporary fillers and will only use a patient’s own natural fat if a permanent filler is required.
