Inverted Nipple Correction Surgery

Inverted nipples are nipples which stick in rather than out. In some women these can pop outwards at some times and remain in the rest. For other women the inverted state is permanent.

Inverted nipple correction surgery involves dividing the ducts which are pulling the nipple in and pulling the nipple into the normal position. This may, however, reduce a women’s ability to breast feed. Vivek uses a special technique to divide only the shortest ducts and keep as many as possible intact so that the ability to breast feed is maximised. A small piece of skin is then placed under the nipple to keep it in the out position. Although this technique maximises the chances of breast feeding it must be remembered that not all women can breast feed and there is therefore no guarantee that breast feeding will be possible after a surgical correction.
